Over 40 budding young tennis stars turned up in the glorious sunshine to the Smash It Tennis Coaching programme this weekend at Stantonbury International School. Run by 5 On It Foundation, based in Milton Keynes, this free junior tennis coaching initiative is supported by the Milton Keynes Community Foundation and 5 On It’s patron John Baldwin. It is fantasticopportunity for boys and girls aged 8 - 16 to have a chance to pick up a racket and have a go at being the next Andy Murray or Serena Williams. Owing to increased demand we have secured another tennis court and are able to offer more places to our Smash It tennis coaching programme which starts on  Saturday 17th April 10am. Unfortunately, owing to COVID restrictions, Stantonbury Leisure Centre is not able to open until next week. Therefore our Smash It tennis coaching programme will now start on Saturday 17th April. 5 On It Foundation are thrilled to be partnering with Premier Education, the UK's number 1 provider of sport and physical activity to primary schools. Premier Education will be supporting a range of sport initiatives run by the 5 On It Foundation through providing DBS checked and highly experienced coaches to help run our coaching programmes.

Magic Little Grants has awarded 5 On It Foundation, through our Local Giving page, with a £500 donation to help pay for coaches and buy equipment to run our Smash It Tennis programme. This exciting initiative will make it easy for children to try tennis by taking the sport into the heart of the community through the Festival and fun, informal weekly tennis lessons with no dress code. We will advertise the free lessons and Festival in places that are familiar to the community such as churches, mosques, schools and community halls. We will also provide all the equipment needed, such as rackets and balls .  Details to be announced soon!

5 On It Foundation have been fortunate enough to receive a Small Grant from MK Community Foundation to help us run a pilot tennis coaching programme prior to holding our Smash It Tennis Festival next Spring. The initiative aims to provide opportunities for children of all ethnicities to get into tennis who might not have had the resources to pick up a racket.  Our focus will be on those from disadvantaged areas of Milton Keynes who might be from families with unemployment, poor health prospects, physical inactivity and low self-esteem.
