This month there have been 3 violent stabbings of three young men in Milton Keynes, leaving one victim hospitalised which is a stark reminder of the need for lifesaving knife and gang crime education for our children and young  people. Local charity, 5 On It Foundation, were thrilled to welcome special guest  Matthew Barber, Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner, to their  latest anti-gang basketball event this month. Matthew and TVP funded one of 5 On It’s Gang Today Gone tomorrow programmes last summer. 5 ON IT AND NUTRI TROOPS MAKE NUTRITION FUN IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS! Thanks to funding from Milton Keynes Community Foundation, 5 On It Foundation were able to deliver an amazing action-packed nutrition learning and physical activity programme to 5 primary schools in Milton Keynes as well as free camps. Run in partnership with https://www.nutritroops.com/, each school was treated to a 2 hour workshop hosted by Peter Bakare and Jordan Spencer, two professional and inspirational athletes,  who taught students about the importance of healthy eating and exercise using the Nutri Troops characters, games and adventures. Train like a champion! In partnership with the fantastic Shenley Leisure Centre and Premier Education we are thrilled to be running another FREE football camp for boys and girls aged 7-12 years. This exciting programme is all about having fun whilst learning key skills from our qualified, DBS certified coaches, all levels welcome, there are prizes to be won too! Thames Valley Police (TVP) have launched a rap/spoken word competition called ‘The Knife Sentence’. The competition aims to raise awareness of the impact of knife crime on individuals and communities and give young people the opportunity to express their feelings against violence.  It invites anyone aged 11 – 25 to submit their own Knife Sentence; a short rap, spoken word performance or written lyrics about how they feel about knife crime and violence in Milton Keynes.  It forms part of the activity that is taking place during December’s Month of Action Against Violence, which will also see the hosting of the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, also known as the Knife Angel, outside MK Stadium.   For more details go to  https://www.thamesvalley-pcc.gov.uk/news/young-people-invited-to-rap-speak-write-about-knife-crime/ The competition page is https://www.thamesvalley-pcc.gov.uk/knife-sentence-competition/
